Hello all, just thought I’d share with you some great recordings I bought recently.
The artist’s name is Lucien Dubuis. www.luciendubuis.ch, he plays duet, trios and quartets with drummers, guitarists, bassists, etc.
He is a clarinet and sax player out of Switzerland. The 2 CDs that I bought directly from him (Madame Chilli, Tovorak) are basically dedicated to bass clarinet and contrabass clarinets. Great showcase of the instruments’ capabilities.
** For those of you who crave for more contrabass clarinet recordings, these are must haves. Lucien plays it very differently than Anthony Braxton or Wolfgang Fuchs.
Great playing all around, not classical style, but very energetic and lyrical jazz style compositions. I thoroughly enjoy the driven and focused aspects of these compositions, these music are actually going somewhere.
Check it out for yourself if you can. If you need contact info, let me know.
