 VSP B-flat Clarinet? Help.
Author: dmorit

Hey, does anybody know anything about VSP clarinets? I have a wooden one with, I think, nickel plated keys... and I believe it's an intermediate model. How much do/did these retail for?

There have been a few threads in the archives mentioning the Vito VSP clarinet.

Here is one:

There are others ...GBK

From what I have seen, the Vito VSP saxophones were Yanagisawa stencils, identical to the Yani branded ones except for the engraving. Very high quality. Were the VSP clarinets made by Leblanc, or were they stencils made by someone else?

The Vito VSP is the Paris made version of the Vito, but a much better instrument than the plastic models. It is a very good intermediate instrument with excellent intonation--similar to the Paris Leblanc pro models. It is one of the best intermediate clarinets around, but I'm not sure they're still made. I've recommended this particular model to many students who wanted to step-up but couldn't afford a really pricey instrument. I can't remember what their retail price was a few years ago, but I bought several from International Musical Suppliers for around $800.00.

I don't think it's Leblanc... I'm not sure though. It was purchased around 1996-97. Didn't Leblanc buy out Vito or something? Thanks for the help!

"Vito" is and always has been a product line of the Leblanc Corporation, named after the late president of Leblanc USA, Vito Pascucci. Check the Leblanc website for their history.
