I sing as a backing vocal in a band, but they'd like me to play the clarinet too. Therefore I need some titles of pop songs for a female singer with clarinet acompaniment.
Can anyone help me ?? Many thanks in advance.

I can only think of one. "Claire" by Fairground Attraction. It's hard to find their CD's but look in the imports section of your local CD store. Fairground Attraction is a Scottish band that broke up YEARS ago. If you find their "Greatest Hits" CD you don't want that one, because it's a live recording and they obviously didn't have a clarinet handy. You want their album titled "The First of a Million Kisses."

Check out "Pet Sounds" by The Beach Boys. There's a few songs on that have satisfying little clarinet/woodwind acompaniment and bridges. Songs like "I Know There's An Answer" and "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times", etc. If your band is feeling bold look for Beach Boy's SMILE stuff. Unreleased but there are bootlegs on the net.
Pop from the late Sixties, especially right after the release of Pet Sounds in 1966, will have a lot of clarinet or oboe (among other things). I'm sure The Carpenters use the clarinet, too. Neat pop band.
