 Does this exist?:Rex XE520 Eb

Hello,

I recently purchased online at 1Stop Clarinet and Sax Shop a "Rex XE520 Eb Clarinet" for $199.00.

This is the first time I have used this company. However, when I 'googled' the Rex brand of clarinet the only listings where for the aboce companies web-site. I have not been able to get in touch with them and I have a sinking feeling that I may have been ripped off: as in, I can find no mention of a manufacturer of Rex clarinets.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone happens to own such a brand or knows of such a brand to please answer my query.

Thank-you
sincerely
George Lawrence

Rex?

Never buy a clarinet whose name is the same as your neighbor's dog.

Seriously, it is one of many cheaply made CSO's which will more than likely cause you much aggravation and futility.

Whether it is called Laval, Rex, Monique, Parrot, Bestler, First Act, Heimer, Maxtone, Steuben, Top Tone, Lark, Palatino, Elkhart Series, Johnson or any number of other brand names which seem to surface each year and flood the market, these clarinets are often on the "do not repair" list of many techs because of their shoddy keywork and quality.

Many techs will not touch them. Replacement parts? Not likely

A far better choice would be the Bundy Model 1405 which is a good, proven entry level Eb clarinet that plays in tune, has a pleasing sound and with very little maintenance, should last a long time ...GBK

I used to drive an XE520.

Oh wait...

A lot of these Asian-made stencils are private-labeled so that a given outlet can have a custom brand. In all likelihood this Rex is identical to some of the other brands GBK mentioned with a different label on it.

It probably isn't a rip-off. More likely just a case of "you get what you pay for".

1Stop Clarinet and Sax Shop is completely legit. They carry a lot of Tony Gigliotti's products such as his reeds which aren't availiable many other places.

Yes, the Clarinet is probably crap, but you will soon see.
