Hey guys, I currently own a 5RV Lyre 13 series profile 88. What is the difference between lyres and non-lyres?

The traditional Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece has a tip opening of 106.5 with a Medium Short facing length, while the 5RV lyre has a tip opening slightly over 109 and a Medium facing length. The recommendations for reed strengths is identical for the two. The Profile 88 part is the exterior angle of the beak being slightly more "streamlined" than its fatter cousin the traditional beak. So, WorldIRC is correct.

There is also a good deal of difference in the rails and the thickness of the tip on the lay side of the mouthpiece between the Lyre and the non lyre model. The Lyre mouthpiece also allows for a larger sound with less work due to the lowering of the baffle as well.
