I'm just curious about this ligature because I heard that "Vandoren blew away BG". It comes with 3 pressure plates like their optimum. Has anyone experienced with this ligature? I'm also a bit hesitant about buying a leather ligature because most people say they lack in projection and muffle your sound?
Thanks!
p.s.yeah I know I should try them out for myself instead of asking but I won't be going to a local music store for a while...

Hi, I tried the Vandoren Leather Ligature because I knew that I could return it if I did not like it. However, I love it. I previously used the Rovner Mark III. I use the Vandoren with the brown leather insert. Contrary to a concern in another posting earlier about it stretching - believe me - it will not - it is very solid. But the reed is held via vertical pressure only - NOT by "wrap-around squeezing." I find that my response is more open with the Vandoren as compared to the Rovner.
One comment about the leather cap (which I think is cool). Be sure to carefully cut out the narrow leather leather strip inside the cap. Its only purpose is to hold the shape of the cap when it is not on the mouthpiece. It is not necessary - and only will bump into the tip of the reed if you are not careful.
I have not tried the other inserts because I am very happy with this setup.
Hope this helps.

I also own a vandoren lig. and currently contented with it. The leather cap is cool. I don't like the plate pressure though, are there replacements for it?
BG is not the ideal brand and it doesn't gives us what we need.

Well, its a matter of what you like. And BG is definitely what I won't recommend because I have used it for two years and since then switched to Vandoren leather lig.

missclarinetist, you can buy replacement pressure plates from wwbw. But I'm not sure if it's any different than the ones you recieved with the ligature.
Thanks for the review.
