OK, I have my nice new R-13 and my wonderful Greg Smith mouthpiece and Chadash barrel, and I'm getting such a beautiful tone that I can't believe it's me playing. But in order to get the best sound from this, I find myself opening the inside of my mouth so it's more rounded (chin down). The problem is that I can't tongue in this position--I have to "flatten" the inside of my mouth to bring my tongue up so I can articulate cleanly on fast passages. All this shifting back and forth is driving me crazy! Is it normal to have to change embouchure like this in order to tongue? By the way, I'm a hopeless anchor-tonguer--I had a tongue-tie released when I was 6, and unless I anchor the front under my lip, my tongue seems to be too long.

No, you shouldn't have to change your embouchure to tongue, is the short answer to your question. The anchor-tonguing issue is always a problem--some people have to, because of their anatomy, others don't but do because that's how they learned. I was one of the second group, and I had to switch because I couldn't tongue fast enough, but lots of people can. I'd suggest you do some tonguing exercises slowly while concentrating on your embouchure, and gradually increase the speed. You'll probably learn to tongue properly with correct embouchure even at fast speeds. It may take a while to learn, though. If you don't seem to be able to, you might have to switch. Hope this helps you out.
