I'm entering a local concerto contest this year along with the All State Solo Festival, so I need to choose a concerto that's on both of the approved lists. The concertos that are approved for both are:
Mozart's K. 622
Rossini's Introduction, Theme, and Variations
Stamitz's Concerto No. 3 (1st or 3rd movement) Is this concerto in Bb?
Weber's Concerto No. 1 (1st or 3rd movement) Is this his concerto in Fm?
Weber's Concertino
I need to have the concerto I choose memorized by November. Which is the easiest for me (a sophomore in HS) to memorize and play? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I would suggest the concertino or mozart. the stamitz is not appropriate, as it's too easy. I highly doubt you would have much of a chance at winning with this piece. It depends on your level, but I think the Rossini will be too hard.

Stamitz #3 is in Eb concert; clarinet plays in F.
Weber #1 is in Fminor concert; clarinet playes in G-minor.

I would do the Concertino. Its an easy one to play around with and there are many recordings to get ideas from... Good Luck!!!

Concertino is easy enough. After you listen to the recordings like 20 times, it's pretty easy to memorize. Just practice up on your G major Baermann and you should be fine. Good luck!

Weber's Concertino is NOT easy if you want to do it well; it contains most elements of basic technique that if you lack, it will show up here. I personally think the F minor concerto is easier to get to sound good if you're not completely solid with your technique.

Thanks for everyone's advice! I'm probably going to end up playing Weber's 1st Concerto or possibly the Mozart. Keep on playing clarinet!

Baermann exercises in F major and D minor would be a better choice...GBK

The Concertino would be easier to memorize in my oppinion than the weber 1, but good luck with whatever you decide.
