Plastic/Fiber reeds...anyone to soften one a bit?

I just got a Legere Bb 31/2 and it's just a tiny big too strong. Is there any possible way to soften it some? I don't want to have wasted $15 nor do I want to put down another $15 to get another one.

1. Try soaking it in warm water for a couple of minutes

2. Check out Legere's generous exchange policy, and get a 3 1/4 instead.

I have carefully sanded my Fibracell synthetic reeds with no problem. Just go easy.
