Sounds from Saturn "Music of the Spheres"

http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov

Just watched the launch of Discovery from my front yard. What a wounderful moment for American Pride. To feel the Earth shake and hear the low roar of the boosters.

Front Yard?? What a thrill that must have been. For me, it was just good ole CNN. Nevertheless, hope they have a "good gig" and a safe return to the planet.

Now, back to the clarinet...................

I am in Pinellas County, but couldn't see it. Too many trees were in the way and we had some overcast.

The Shuttle is indeed international -- during the Hubble Space Telescope days I had the pleasure of working with some terrific engineers and technicians from the UK, along with folks from many other nations who were associated with the European Space Agency -- that was a great time for me and I've always appreciated the competence and contributions of our space teammates overseas (and up north in Canada).

Back to clarinets, I suppose........ho hum...................

Extra, extra, extra: there also happens to be an Australian on board (I really hope his american colleagues understand his English).

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

He WAS an Aussie, I believe he had to rescind his Australian citizenship to get accepted by N.A.S.A.

Holst's Planet Suite would be an appropriate muscial theme too..............and ""The Blue Danube"" as well............... after seeing a bit of 2001 Space Odessy in the box the other night.

Anybody know what pitch those rockets play when they're in full roar? Very jealous of the front yard seat, btw. I used to watch launches on the NASA channel, but my cable company discontinued it and now I'm stuck with the abbreviated broadcasts on CNN. Hope it's true that none of the debris damaged the shuttle.

Did ya hear about the new planet found? Larger than Pluto and it's a matter of "is it considered part of our solar system or not"

It does revolve around our sun so it probably should/would be

Wonder how long it will take for somebody to write music dedicated to it?

Hopefully it will be written for the Clarinet so that it will be applicable to this thread.
