 Amati Bass Clarinet, Low C

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of a mouthpiece fits an amati bass clarinet to low C. I recently bought one, and absolutely cannot get it to tune. Please let me know your suggestions. Thanks

I think you're going to have trouble with that Amati no matter what you do. Depending on where you live you may be able to find a technician who will spend the time & effort (and your money) to get it to tune right.

Is there possibly a larger mouthpiece out there that might work? It is a good horn with a big sound, just a little on the sharp side since it is czechlosovockian.

I got an Amati low C bass clarinet used and ended up sending it back. It was so out of tune with itself no matter what mouthpiece i used that i could not stand to listen to it (OK, i was sitting down to play it, but you know what i mean...). I tried a Selmer, a Morgan and a Hite (my mouthpiece of choice) and the 12ths were absolutely awful no matter what i did. And they weren't even consistent--some were very wide and others too small. A few were even OK.

I have an amati soprano. I could not get it to tune either.
It was alwas sharp. I figured out that the problem was the
mouthpiece. I had the barrel out until it fell of and it still was sharp. Finally I threw that mouth piece away and put my blayman on. It poped right into tune. I also tried a softer reas and that helped alot. This was on a soprano and not a bass though. Also, if it is the ACL-692 than it should have a tuning slide on the neck. Have you tried that?

I have the 692 model, but I don't know what you mean by a tuning slide on the neck? I am using a bigger bass mouthpiece--not a contra mouthpiece but it is close. This has helped tuning alot. The horn gets a great sound and the intonation has improved some.

clarinet_20,

What I ment by the tuning slide is the ajustible neck that can go in and out. I do not know what it is realy called.
