Hi all, just wondering what are some of your favorite clarinet works that you have played in recitals/concerto contests/auditions etc. What pieces do you recommend for a concerto contest besides the famous Mozart and Weber concertos?

Take a look at the Franz Anton Rossler concto.

Ignore the mess Himie Voxman made of the grace notes. Play the appogiaturas in the original style (ref Langenus methods)

But study his (Voxman) volume changes -particularly the rienforcements and the smorzandos.

There are many places where the phrasing can be just killer!

You might want to fiddle a little bit with the cadenza at the end of the first movement --it was written by the fellow who did the piano reduction.

If you try it out, and like it; lets compare notes on interpretation.

Good luck.

Bob Phillips
