 New Barrel Doesn't Fit

Hey,

I recently purchused a new C. Robert Scott barrel (67mm) from Muncy Winds. When I tried to put it on it seemed a little slim, but with some cork grease fixed that although it was still a little tight. Only then did I realize that it did not fit. There was a 1-2mm gap between the bottom of the barrel and the next piece. At first I thought my clarinet (Buffet International) was a little swollen (the hurricane weather and all), but when I let it sit overnight and it didn't help. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix my problem?

Two things. Actually 3:

If the diameter of the receiver socket is too narrow, have it reamed wider. OR...if the tenon cork is too thick, sand it down. Piece of cake for the Mr. M.

Next...there is a gap. Use tuning rings....Muncy sells them. OR ...have the facing of the socket shortened.

OR....easier still....Ask Mr M to send you several barrels, pick the best one, send back the remainder

There is a variation in socket and tenon sizes that occurs naturally. I just did a Selmer Recital barrel for a major player* and it was tight....He sent it back and I adjusted it...returned it to him, and he performed at a venue that caught some attention on this BB. The whole process of adjustment took 1 week incl. shipping. Easy as pie.

Disclaimer.....oh, you know the drill.

*Mr Ben Redwine contacted me...He kindly gave me permission to mention him by name. He used my barrel at the Oklahoma symposium.
