I'm a proud parent of a new Selmer Soloist clarinet. I can't believe the sound quality difference from my old Vito.

What are you going to do with the Vito?

Hi Bob, I've got to keep her. I've had my Vito for 30 years - I just can't let her go.

Scott, I've got some really bad news for you --- Vito clarinets are MALE --- now that you know that, think you can let HIM go?

Yamamas are for sure . . .
The Soloist was a really nice clarinet - the flagship of Selmer USA. That was a nice step up.

Wait, so what about Buffets? Are they male?
I call mine male... I don't like calling my instruments "she" cuz if I'm playing them, that would mean I like girls. Yeah...

I have a Noblet, and he seems distinctly male. This is mostly because the low notes are wonderful and the upper notes sound pinched. It could be me, but the pro clarinet player living near me plays on Noblets and says hers are the same way.
Since my clarinet is "male", his name is Pierre Noblet, and he was my first love. Too bad he's fifty years older than me, and a clarinet to boot.

My old Yamaha was a male because his name was Sir Cracksalot.
I haven't determined the sex of my newer Yamaha though. I do like to call the CSG's Ulga though (a German woman name).
Oh.... CONGRATS too! haha!
