I just got my Selmer 37 Bass clarinet this past weekend (used but new condition). It is beautiful! Thank you to all that participated in the discussion, especially my wonderful wife who bought it for me. Now I have to learn what all those extra keys are for. The Woodwind.org charts probably have enough for me to sort it out, but are there Selmer charts out there that specifically show their key work and alternate fingerings?

Might they have included a fingering chart with the instrument? I know that Buffet does.
Although I have no experience with the Selmer 37, I don't think it would be too difficult to determine how to finger low C, C# and D with just a little experimentation. Anything above that should be pretty standard with other clarinets and bass clarinets (up to a point).

Like Don says, it's just three extra notes. Experiment a bit, you'll figure it out.

It is definitely a horn beyond my capabilities - please don't tell my wife. I won't be sounding like Giora too soon- but will try to earn my way. I did stumble on the three extra notes, but just guessing that there are a few more ways to get at them. The original owner didn't throw in the manual.

Suffice it to say:
You have the "regular" low Eb (only one), and it's on the right,
You have two low D's, one above the Eb on the right, and the other's on the left...look around, it's there somewhere!
You have one low Db, it's the top right thumb key (with a roller, it's square for some reason).
You have a low C, just below the right thumb Db (now really stretch and you've got it!)
I may be way off with this key stuff, as I've been struggling with mine for about a year now.
If you find any new keys, let me know! I have to play WICKED tomorrow night, and any suggestions will help.

I bought it from a musician's classified and pretty much paid fair, if not a little bit high market for it. The clarinet is in perfect shape and came with a pretty good mouthpiece. I missed a steal a month ago and haven't seen many Selmer's around in as good a shape since. We decided to skip Christmas at mother-in-laws in Hawaii and just stay home, I got a real nice bass instead for about the same price as a trip for the family.
