A friend just wrote me, what's with the recent posts in your name?
I want to tell you that the posts in my name are all made by me (or by parts of me), and I take full responsibility for them.
...BUT...
It crosses my mind that my performances are also all made by me (or by parts of me), and I take full responsibility for them, too.
And, what I want to celebrate about that is the bit: 'or by parts of me'.
My notion is: I want to give thanks that I don't need to be *me* when I play -- I can choose any of my possibilities, moment by moment, to contribute to the piece I'm playing.
And, that notion is a possibility for you, too.
Tony

and more relevant (and interesting) threads have been shut down by the webmasters here - you get a lot of leaway because of who you are (or purport to be)

It really is Tony.
Literate and thoughtful writing goes a long way ...

I'm with larryb here. You close threads by 'nobodies' but no, you wouldn't dare shut down a post by a 'big name' no matter what it is.
I wonder what would happen if anyone but Tony posted about sucking their thumb.

Depends. If they've got a history of posting well-reasoned, thoughtful commentary, it would stay up.
If they've got a history of adding absolutely nothing to the general base of knowledge, it might not make it.
That's the way it is - as moderator I get to make the choices, whether or not you like them. If you haven't by now "gotten" what Tony was talking about, I guess it doesn't matter, right? The post sure as heck wasn't subtle ...

"you get a lot of leaway because of who you are (or purport to be)"
I recall a quip I heard years ago...but not exactly. The quip goes something like this: "Mr Beethoven, would you please explain why you put all the singing at the end of your Ninth Symphony?" "Sir, if I have to explain it there is no need for you to know." Now, that's not the real one, but I think even the younger readers can figure out the drift. Perhaps one or more of our other senior participants knows the real one.

Hi All:
I have great respect and admiration for Tony Pay. I've enjoyed his wonderful recordings for years. His recent BBoard posting have been a bit odd for me, although I'm sure they will spark lots of discussions for others.
I guess stimulating discussions is his point here, so I applaud him.
Perhaps he could comment on his recent playing experiences, recordings, and teaching. We have all learned from Tony's experiences, so, thanks!
