We are indeed fortunate to have Carrere Music in the Atlanta area. The founder - Tony Carrere is a professional woodwind player and teacher. The store reminds me of a NewYork style music store with an excellent selection of instruments and accessories for clarinet. Tony also has an excellent staff of repair technicians and teachers. My Eddie Daniels' mpc that I got was one of Tony's personal mpcs. That's not necessarily any big deal. But, their service was great, friendly and informative. I called up and talk to someone about the mpc and he said, "You're gonna love that mpc!" And he was correct

I regularly use the Carere on Winters Chapel; very homey, nice store; for all of my reed and accessory purchases. All of the employees that I've encountered at that store have been very nice.
Although, it isn't necessarily that close to Decatur, especially in Atlanta traffic which is pretty much clogged all day. If you're at Emory, you could hop on 85N to 285E to Peachtree Industrial N, which has a Winters Chapel exit. You'd take a left on WC and after you pass the water treatment facility, it's in the next shopping center on the right.
But, if you can make the trip, it's worth it. If you call ahead they'll tell you if they have what you're looking for in stock. And of course, if they don't, they'll order it for you and call you when it's in.
I have not used them for repairs of any sort, so I cannot comment on this aspect of service.
And BTW, after school lets out, it gets pretty packed with students taking lessons, etc. So, if you can take some time in the morning or early afternoon (call before you go to make sure they're open) it's not so busy.

Is this store still in business and etc... I just recently noticed a crack beggining in my barrel and it probably will get bigger quite soon. There aren't any good places in Alabama that I know of that carry a good selection of anything. I would prefer to be able to personally try out a good selection, and have just began researching this.

Carere is in business. Tony Carere is the consumate professional reed player, as well as flute and piccalo, and a monster sax man. He handles arranging music talent and back up for the big shows that hit Atlanta and as such has his finger on the professional music pulse in much of the Southeast. The store is homey, friendly, and well stocked especially for reed instruments. The repair people are first rate. The whole Carere extended family are professional musicans - primarily woodwinds and are present in the store where you can get expert advice, and lessons from professional players. The selection of reed hardware and accessories rivals some big New York stores.

Excellent. Thank you very much. I live in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, but there really aren't any stores around me that carry anything. Now i just have to figure out how to get there.
