I don't believe the greenline is less expensive than the non-greenline R13 in general. There may be a "special" at your local retailers. In reality the greenline currently costs more to manufacture than the standard R13.

Langly, you may want to contact Dr. Robert Spring at Arizona State University. He plays on a set of Greenline and I can only assume that he's satisfied with them. Sorry, I don't have his email address handy, but you can find him on the ASU School of Music webpage.
Good luck,
Frank

Well, where I come from the greenlines are a whole lot cheaper. And I think they're fantastic. I had an oppertunity to try out most of the top buffet models in a store and the greenline beat them all by a long shot. What I like best about them is the even tuning and the great even tone, especially in those usually terrible throat tones.

What are the regular R13s and Greenline R13s selling for in your area?

There are a couple of students at my school playing on greenlines and they are very satisfied with them. I tried my teachers greenline awhile ago and thought that it had a wonderful sound.

Robert,
I thought that they only made Greenlines with the regular 13 model. Do they make Greenline Prestige(not RC)?

Do the Greenline models have better consistancy than the wood models? i.e. Do you need to select a "best of the bunch", or are they all basically the same for a given model?

According to Bob Spring, there's variance in the greenlines, but they're more tightly clustered around a very good "norm".

I tried the Greenline while shopping around and I loved it. The Vintage is far better than the Greenline, just so you know. The good thing about the greenline is that it's low register is beautiful and it's guaranteed not to crack. Give it a try, you'll be surprised.

In your opinion, of course. No one would be brave enough to make such a blanket statement I'm sure.

I haven't played on a Greenline much, but from what little
I've experienced, I personally think the tone quality isn't
as full or as dark as the standard R-13 or R-13 Prestige. But it is a personal preference, and certainly more economical than investing in a Prestige.

Excuse me for my bad english, i'm italian and i had a terrible adventure with it.
Unfortunatly my clarinet fell down (on a carpet surface) and it broke in between the two main bodies in a way very difficuly to repair. I waited for seven months to receive the broken part from Buffet (Paris ) and still now nothing has happened. I was told by a good repair shop that the green line series often breaks in this way. So I sold the broken clarinet and bought a Selmer in good old wood of wich i'm very happy for the performance and intonation.
Ciao from Sergio
