what are some clarinet quintet pieces?

Hi guys, I'm thinking of forming my own quintet which consists of a solo clarinet player, 2 violins, 1 viola and 1 cello for the commencement contest. What pieces do you recommend that is a sure win for a contest?

The most 'standard' clarinet quintets are by Brahms and Mozart, beautiful and well loved works. Both are for clarinet in A.

There are alo quintets by Weber and Baermann, which while they fabulous to play for the clarinet player often leave the string players wondering why they bothered!

There are many less well known quintets, the Bliss for example, which will come up if you search for clarinet quintet.

Jack Brymer's book lists:

Bliss (A clarinet)
Brahms (A clarinet)
Coleridge-Taylor (A clarinet)
Cooke
Hindemith (Eb clarinet in one movement)
Jacob
Mozart (A clarinet)
Reger (A clarinet)
Weber

If you add a pianist this opens up:

Copland
Dankworth

Or if you add a string bass:

Spohr

-----------

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

I really like the Catel Quintet. It's not really difficult, but if you're performing the whole piece sounds fantastic.

My current favorite quintet is the Weber Quintet (probably because of Jon Manasse's performance at the OU Symposium).
