clarinet sites in paris & london

Hey all! I'm going to (among other places) Paris and London this summer, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations of clarinet-related sites in either place. Things like cool little clarinet shops, any sort of musical performances, and so on. I'm also interested in any sort of music-related destinations and activities, but as a clarinetist, a clarinet focus often appears. I'm sure you understand.

Thanks for your help!

Don't miss Howarth of London. Check out http://www.howarth.uk.com.

There are some excellent antique instrument shops here in Paris.

M. Charbit at Orphee is very helpful and knowledgeable:

The clarinet pictured here beside the Lyons is my new toy!

There are a couple of other shops which are also well worth a visit to see their collections of antique clarinets. I will search for the names & addresses if you are interested.

Bon voyage!
Joanne

I've had very satisfactory dealings with Howarth. Also I can recommend Quintette Music in Paris.

Richard Scotto, the owner, is a former Buffet executive, and is very knowledgable about clarinets, and a nice guy as well!

sorry, i can't reccomend any clarinet orientated destinations in either Paris or London.... but i have to ask- SURFERpenguin, do you actually surf? i mean, it would be great to know that there is another clarinet playing surfer somewhere in the world.......

The answer would be somewhat. My dad has taken me surfing, but not enough for me to totally know what I'm doing. I'm a major ocean girl, I just have to get to the ocean, and really learn. For the moment, I'm a boogeyboarder, body-surfer, and aiming to be a surfer.

I'm sure there are quite a few surfing clarinet players though... they just haven't popped out to say hello as of yet : )

i love longboarding but i'm not very good at it
plus i get a sore left knee- so today, for instance, i was bodyboarding for about 3 hours until i got cramp (it's mid winter down here in nz)
i surf Piha which is notoriously big and dangerous, so i'm used to coping with serious sized waves, but i love nothing more than a nice east coast 3 foot day..... much more relaxing.
today someone got pulled into a dangerous spot (risked getting pounded on rocks) and a number of us helped direct this to safety. He was shaking afterward- he could have died. Everyone out there knew how he felt, too. It's good to have some serious things to put bad reeds into perspective!
donald

ps- if i don't go into the sea at least twice a week i get all grumpy, for this reason i don't live in the US anymore (most of the jobs aren't near the sea, though maybe i could find one if i tried a bit harder). in NZ i am never more than an hours drive from the coast, most of the time i can get to waves in less than 45min.

I'm extremely suprised that no one hasn't mentioned Vandoren!

Vandoren
56 Rue Lepic - 750118
Paris, France

I don't know if it's open to the public or not (never been) but it's in Paris! You could go get a picture of the building at least! Does someone know if Vandoren is open to the public?
