I was able to find a really good one a while ago but I can't find it anymore.
Can someone recommend a website or two? Thanks.

I know of Teachlist.com and musicstaff.com. I'm sure there are more.

Bingo! That was Teachlist.com that I thought of! Somehow it never matched my search criteria again. Thank you Nefertiti. You cured me of my headache!

BTW, Mark, the link to the Indiana university is broken.
I think a good starting point is
http://info.music.indiana.edu/group/page/normal/352.html

but befor you know, they will probably change it again...

Just wanted to share my observations... It seems like teachers don't rely on the web much to find students... One of the websites I tried only finds about 10 teachers in the whole state of Indiana. Some of the entries were last updated 4-5 years ago, so they are probably obsolete. And in my localty (Indy) there were only 3 or 4 matches... And looking at those didn't offer much optimism. Like this one studio with a silly name that is obviously targeted at young children and only has one teacher for all brass and woodwind intstruments! And that's considering placing an ad is free! Does it mean that most teachers live off referrals or local ads?

I am probably goining to write an email to someone at the faculty staff of some of the colleges in the Indianapolis area. Maybe they will be able to hook me up with someone. It is interesting that some of the faculty members seem to teach private lessons (or so they profiles state) but those probably are not targeted at beginners and cost $$$?

The faculty members to whom you'd end up paying big bucks may have students of their own who they could refer you to. They'd be aware of who has the experience and knowledge enough to teach you, and probably for a smaller fee. So it's worth asking around. I found my teachers over the years by consulting the musician's union.
