 Vandoren 2RV
Author: Scott

I get an air filled sound when using Vandoren 2 reeds with my Vandoren 2RV mouthpiece. I took a closer look and found that today's reeds are larger (width) than the old 2RV mouthpiece. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this why there's now a Vandored 5RV? Would the 5RV fit today's reeds better and give a better sound?

Hey,
glad i passed up today's eBay auction for a 2RV!

I have a 5RV in my bag of mouthpieces, and it's the right fit to current reeds.

I find my 5RV plays better with Rue Lepic reeds than with traditional cut. The Rue Lepic seem to be a slightly narrower blank, especially at the butt end.

I have an old ched C crown that takes VERY narrow reeds...but it doesn't work for me...I also play on a 5RV (Lyre), which seems to have been made for a modern cut reed.
