Working on staccato

So, for a very long time (6 1/2 years in fact) I used to staccato by lowering my air pressure and kind doing a sort of breath attack. So lately I've really been working on a proper staccato.

Now I keep my air pressure high and constant. I get the whole stopping the sound with the tongue and I've read many threads on how to staccato and I think I'm doing it right. But I'm still having a few problems.

In the altissimo, I keep playing that note and then a note about 2 octaves lower. For example: When I play C6, an Ab4 sounds at the same time. The Ab4 is much softer, but is still audible. Same with about G5-G6 (although the softer tone is different each time).

My staccato in the lower register is actually pretty good and I don't seem to have much problems with it.

Is this my fault (which probably is) or is it my equipments fault or a combo of both?

My equipment is:

Yamaha Allegro
M15 mp
Bois ligature (single ring made of delrin, touches the mp/reed at 2 points only)
Vandoran V 12 3.5's and 4's and also Rue Lepics 3.5+.

I really don't get what's wrong, but something is!
