 I Apologize!
Author: Bradley
Date:   2005-06-03 21:31

Someone just pointed out a post I made years ago about something they were curious about, and I started to read all the posts I made on that thread. I just wanted to apologize for a lot of the stuff I've said in the past- I was a lot more opinionated than I seem to be now, and some of the stuff I've said was really [insert adjective here]. I do agree with some things I said, because I got a lot of criticism for being young and so "big headed", but some of the criticism wasn't necessary. A lot of it was, so again I apologize. I'm sorry for any damage I've done.

Bradley,

No need to apologize for having opinions.

Keep thinking on your own, and keep up the good work.

No problem. You're young. Wait until you're a middle aged poster to the forum. Being opinionated and big headed is obligatory! ;-)

Hi Bradley, you know what they say about hindsight.

Opinion makes interesting discussions : )

Bradley,

If you were my student (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) I'd say that in order to survive as a performer you need to have strong convictions and confidence. However, the ability to temper those with maturity and mental flexibility is key to your survival as well. It seems to me that you are beginning to get a truly bigger picture of the world and how much room there is for different ideas to coexist. I know your teacher is proud of the growth you've had both as a player and as a person.

As to your apology; if saying something dumb or narrow-minded was harmful to others, then this forum should have closed down long before you got here.

Cheers. :-)

Everyone says stupid things. The key, for me, is my grammatical semi-obsessive-compulsiveness and my short attention span. In revising something that sounds odd in a stupid post, I'll often discover it's not worth posting. Likewise, after a distraction (e.g. dog outside, right hand playing something cool on keyboard, The Daily Show) I'll make the same discovery.

This post, for example, was originally quite idiotic.

Yes, even more lame than the version that you are reading now.

And I hit preview and reread it.

And made edits to the sentence two up from this, as well as this sentence itself.

Bradley,

I know your teacher and he speaks highly of you as both a musician and a well rounded young man.

I takes a lot of maturity to realize that the growth process at your age is something that makes your views change.

More people should realize that the things they write on this bulletin board will continue to be here (in the archives) 10 years from now ...GBK

So refreshing Bradley, good for you. But.....don't keep your opinions to yourself. Hearing others' opiinions is how we learn.
