Yes, it is interchangable.
However, do you really want to be taking off the bell in a concert and exposing your bottom joint to damage like that???

I just bought one Backun Bell, Rosewood one. Actually, it works very well for both Bb and A.

Whichever clarinet gets it, gets it for the entire concert. It usually goes on my Bb, but if I'm doing anything primarily on the A (premiered a solo piece last semester, for example), that's where it goes.
As far as intonation goes, it mostly affects the low E/B. I push in or pull out as necessary, just as I would with my stock bell. Projection is better with the Backun.
