Thomas Ohme Woodwind Shop - Part II
Author: ggaebe

In my earlier posting, I said I had joined the group of people who reported that they had been ripped off by this Shop. After a lot of emails and a complaint to the Wisconsin BBB, he contacted me and apologized for the delay. To set the record straight, I just received my clarinet in the mail and it was in very good shape. The overhaul was done very professionally and it sounds great!

What was the turnaround time, GG ? I've never done that kind of business with a mail order service. Just curious :|

It took from Feb 24 until May 19. Should have been done by midApril. I would not recommend this approach. Stay local if at all possible. Trying to get something done over the email is not a good idea!

This is not the first time this particular shop has had problems with its customers and I strongly disagree with your statement "Stay local if at all possible. Trying to get something done over the email is not a good idea" Most of us purchase goods & services from folks here and abroad, by reading this forum I have had the good fortune in dealing with the likes of John Butler who is a remarkable Clarinet technician, Greg Smith who produces wonderful mouthpieces and the good Doctor Omar Henderson who has great "stuff" you can't get in the shop down the road! These folks not only get the job done, they are all a delight to work with! I'm a professional photographer who shoots assignments all over the world, my clients can work with local people for much less money but they go on reputation... so do I.
