What kind of glue do you use for cementing tenon cork and the cork on the keys?

Hi Mike - There are a number of good cements available, many of us have our own favorites. For me, the "Micro Pad and Cork" is a VG, easily-applicable, durable, "clean-up-able", removable, shellac?-in-solvent cement, It's only shortcoming, IMHO, is drying time, several hours for tenon corks, so those in a hurry often prefer some of the "contacts", and will prob. respond shortly. Hello, I am also interested to know what brands of adhesive are commonly available and user-friendly for doing DIY jobs.
I would also like to know where to obtain cork. Does Homedepot carry it?

The cork cement that I've used often, and has worked well for me is 'contact cement'. I buy it in a small bottle, (1 oz.), at Ace Hardware. Commercial name is "DAP Weldwood Contact Cement". It may also be available at Home Depot.
Important to start with a CLEAN tenon ..... cut cork strip to correct width, and suitable length. Taper one end of the cork strip and coat both the cork and tenon with contact cement. Let dry as directed on bottle .... about 15 to 20 minutes. Put it down in place .... you get only one chance ..... ergo the name: contact cement. Overlap the ends and trim off excess.
I use Ferree's Tools as a source of cork, etc. ferreestools@aol.com The stuff that Don talks about is good for setting pads. Does a great job, sets slowly and holds well.

"Micro" brand seems to work best for me. Available at Ferrees as well as some other places.

I've tried many, and settled on UK's Evostik Impact Adhesive.
Fast drying - glue a cork in 1-2 minutes total time.
Zero 'creep' on very small surface areas.
Is not softened by solvents later used to clean keys.
It is not softened by oil.
It comes in a tube with a very small applicator nozzle, which I shrink further to 1 mm O.D. by inserting teflon tubing. I don't even need to re-cap it.

I've read your previous evaluation(s) of Evostik and it sounds like the ideal stuff. I wish I knew where it's sold in the U.S. With all the ballyhoo about world trade, you'd think we'd be able to get some good glue around here...

Bostik-Finlay, the manufacturer recently told me that they do not export to USA. However that does not mean that somebody is not importing it somehow in small quantities, as happens for me in NZ.
I have heard that some model shops stock it in USA.
I am surprised that Ferrees does not stock it, because there is an obvious strong connection between Windcraft and Ferrees, Windcraft effectively using the Ferrees catalogue for their inventory. However one additional item that Windcraft has is Evostick. One would think that it would be quite easy for Ferrees to organise stock via their Windcraft contact.
Windcraft quite recently told me there was no problem in shipping it to me in NZ. So presumably no problem to USA? Who knows.
