Hello all, I am hoping some of you would be able to help me.

More than once I have used the email address at Josef Horak’s website trying to buy his CDs. I have never gotten any kind of response.

I don’t think I need to write in Czech in order to get a response?

Can anyone enlighten me on how to obtain his recordings? I know of no other channels to do this.

Thank you very much in advance.

Willy

Thanks GBK, I have a copy. Horak plays bass in the Rubashka concerto for clarinet and bass clarinet. I am interested to buy his older recordings displayed on his website.

Here are 3 items from Amazon Germany: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ix%3Dclassical-de%26rank%3D%252Bsalesrank%26fqp%3Dproduct-type%2501classical%2502keywords%2501Horak%252CJosef%26sz%3D25%26pg%3D1/028-9792779-4358122

and some sightly different ones from Amazon France:
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/171-0238024-8213857

His website lists his CDs as being available from panther.objednavka@bonton.cz and MUSIK MENZ: D-88422 Bad Buchau, Germany.

Also, his guestbook at http://www.horakbasscl.cz/guestbook/guestbook.cgi lets you send a message.

He's a lovely man, as well as an excellent player. He speaks only a little English, but his wife is fluent. He sends me a Christmas card every year and will almost certainly reply to a message.

Thanks Ken. Unfortunately I don't know German and won't order from Amazon.

I will send a message through his feedback forum, hoping for a response and able to order some of his recordings. He is an important player to say the least.

BTW, I guess he plays a Selmer. Can anyone confirm?

I can confirm that Horak a Selmer low C bass. I'm not sure about his mouthpiece, but he uses a Rovner ligature.

I can understand your not wanting to order through Amazon, perhaps because of the owners' politics. Barnes & Noble and other mail order sellers will probably also have the records. Babelfish will give you a usable translation.
