 It's a boy!!

I would like you all to meet my new baby.

It's name is Lee (after my tech). He is an older R13 (not sure on birthdate yet). He cost me $400 and $90 in repairs, but he's wonderful.

It plays surprisingly well. I'm getting more used to this Eefer thing (or as I like to call it, the effer).

Take notice of the cool sticker I found to put on the case.

At the risk of overdoing the metaphor, will he sleep in the double case with the A and B flat for a few weeks?

I was a bit concerned that he would feel lonely, but I think he was used to being alone. But he does sit next to the double case and a broken basson for company. :)

My teacher kind of bought him even though he already had one and was taking care of the school's, so poor Lee just sat by himself and eventually went into a little bit of disrepair. (It needed a few new corks, pad reseating and a couple adjustments)

You know, I could always buy a triple case. lol. But that would be a little excessive, since they weight like a million pounds and I hear the Orly (sp?) cases kinda suck and Wiseman are expensive+heavy.

I have a question though. The insert in the case, the part that holds the clarinet, moves around! And this seems to happen A LOT with the older Buffet Eefer cases. Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks for the grats!! :D

The sticker is brilliant, I want one for my bedroom door, my clarinet case, one to stick on my forehead...

I will of course accept the obligatory Cohiba (Ciglo)
I would wager GBK likes Macanudos (likely the dark wrapper)
MC likely would eschew such debouchery.

Oh yeah....congrats...and watch those itty bitty sliver keys...they like to sneak up on your fingers

He looks like a good catch; just make sure you train him not to leave the clarinet case lid up after he's done playing on himself. v/r Ken [grin]

Oh yeah, I already have 2 of the "Beware of clarinet player" stickers. One was on my alto clarinet case, but I sold that. So I guess I only have one left. I also have the "Beware of killer Budgie" sticker on my bird cage. My sister bought them all for me, of course. :)

The new one I have seen lately is "I play my clarinet naked. Do you?" HAHA

Congrats CG!!!!!!

What a great find for you. And........like Opus II says, if you don't have time to treasure him or if you just need a really great babysitter say... for a really long time, I'm there for you.

Funny sticker. Have fun with your new baby!

I'm just curious as to how you know it's a boy.

Well, it has a high pitched voice, so I assumed it hasn't gone through puberty yet. :)

So when it does, will it become an alto?

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.
