My Leblanc LL had a stuffy D and C and my "big name" and expencive repair tech merely improved the problem. I called him to see if he could improve it further and he didnt seem all that confident and I wasn't willing to pay such a high price for service that "might" work.
I began playing other clarinets (r13, signature, csg, sev) but prefered the tone of my LL. Those stuffy notes just were driving me crazy! I got lots of excellent posts from you guys describing possible causes.
...so as a last resort I took my LL to my local music store repairman (who works for beer!) with a print out of the posts you wrote about fixing the stuffy notes. He was humble but open to trying anything you guys wrote.
Now the stuffy notes are gone and I have a clarinet I love! I spent $350 with the other guy who only improved the stuffiness. Yesterday a 6 pack completely cured it!!! He made the pad heights a little higher and coned off the cork pads.
I can give back this Yamaha SEV I was thinking about buying.
THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!! GordonNZ, you were most helpful
