I will be in Chicago briefly this week. I am curious to know if there are any awesome used CD stores that would have a great selection of classical CDs. For new CDs, I always stop by the Virgin store on Michigan Ave., but I have never looked for used CDs. Any recommendations?

In addition to examining the playing side of used CDs, check very carefully for scratches on the label side. The recording area of a CD is well protected on the playing side, but is just beneath the surface on the label side. Scratches on the label usually make a CD unplayable.

Brandon:
Try Jazz record Mart on Hubble, just off Michigan. They are in easy walking distance of Virgin. They specialize in vinyl jazz, but also carry a nice selection of CD's and, I believe, they offer a decent collection of classical music. It certainly is worth a phone call.

You might also try Reckless Records on Broadway and Belmont, I've found some good classical CD's there. Just south on Broadway you can find another "USED CD" shop, I forget the name.
Reckless Records has other locations in Chicago as well.
