Happily, our orchestral wind principals are to front this lovely work in September, and I'm greatly looking forward to playing it.
However, my Musica Rara solo parts (from the piano reduction) have some horrendous page turns, compiled I can only surmise by a non-player.
Any BB suggestions for the published version of the above which oozes most originality ?
I have a cd of Sabine Meyer et al playing it and it varies quite considerably from my parts. ? Down to artistic licence or differences in versions?
Opinions please.

It's an attractive piece, but K297b is not by Mozart ...GBK

GBK: That's a very definitive statement.
Would it not be more accurate to say that its authorship is unknown - maybe Mozart, maybe not? Or has someone actually proved it is not by Mozart? To my mind, that would mean proving who DID write it. Merely showing on stylistic grounds that it is not typical Mozart is not proof. "Wellington's Victory" is not typical Beethoven, but I'm not aware that its authorship is debated.

OK GBK,
Let's have it. I thought there was some dubiety as to its origins. Any more info for the programme notes ?

Ah....The K297b Sinfonia Concertante story.
Do we really need to rehash it all over again? It has been talked about and written about to death in so many places (doctoral dissertations, journal articles, Mozart Jahrbuch, etc...) by numerous Mozart scholars (Levin, Leeson, etc...) that any "summary" that I write would merely be an incomplete version.
For starters, read the following 3 threads from the archive mailing lists:
http://test.woodwind.org/Databases/Klarinet/1996/01/000506.txt
http://test.woodwind.org/Databases/Klarinet/1996/01/000647.txt
http://test.woodwind.org/Databases/Klarinet/1994/12/000298.txt
There are so many more (just in the archives) in even greater detail.
You may also want to check and read the other references which are cited in just the above 3 threads.
BTW - Dan Leeson probably knows more about Mozart than anyone else on the planet. He is an active participant in the klarinet mailing list and (unless he's not sick of discussing this topic again) would probably welcome your inquiries...GBK

It's that man Leeson again, so nothing radically different from the archive entries, but perhaps a little more balanced.
Also, oddly, he gets the title right, unlike in the archive. It's Sinfonia Concertante, not the ungrammatical "Sinfonie Concertante". For a man so engaged by the partita/partitta debate, I find it odd that he should not get it right consistently. But maybe there's a story behind that too?

The Leeson article reference, cited above by David Peacham, actually first appeared in The Clarinet magazine, Fall 1984, Vol. 12, No. 1.
It later appeared in 1985 in other journals, including the one published by the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) ...GBK

Well, true to form the BB has given an interesting and wonderfully informative "spin off" from my original question, which really related to different published versions, as my Musica Rara version is pretty naff and very poorly printed.
Any BB'ers got other versions ?
Then I can go after the appropriate orchestral hire parts.
Thank you GBK and DP for your informed input.......RT
