Meyer Metal Mouthpiece

Hi,

I have a Meyer Tru-Flex metal (gold plated) mouthpiece, for a Bb clarinet, that I inhereted from my grandfather. I took it to a repair shop and everyone in the store said they had never seen such a thing before. I'm new to clarinet so I didn't think a metal mouthpiece would be all that rare. But I can't find any info on it after some searching on the net, so perhaps it's kinda special- that's what they thought at the shop. It has a "fluted" shape with material cut out of the sides. I did find a picture of a Meyer tenor sax mpc that had the same look- can't find it now though.

So, what is this thing? Just trying to get some history on it. Thanks for any help.

have seen those as well as Selmer metal MPs....and have always wondered about their quality. Wanted one for my metal SILVER KING...but only because it would look cool having a metal MPC on a metal horn.....so I've never played one or know of their "value" as a piece of equipment. I'm using Pomarico crystals pretty much exclusively on all my clarinets......but still want to try out a metal MPC just to see.......
