Hello all, does anyone have opinion regarding the Runyun (spelling..) brand of mouthpiece? I lost its website address.
I was considering its contrabass clarinet mouthpieces.
Thanks.

Willy,
Check Runyon out at: http://www.runyonproducts.com/mpc.html
I'm only familiar with their sax mouthpieces, which are OK. I wasn't even aware until now that they made mouthpieces for harmony clarinets. Make sure they're made of hard rubber, not plastic as I suspect they might be.

And also make sure you're getting the right SIZE for your instrument (EEb contra-alto? BBb contrabass? Selmer or Leblanc? -- they can use different size mouthpieces). Ask Runyon many questions.

Thanks Dave. I just sent them an email asking for clarifications. The website says very little. Willy

there are no hard rubber runyon mouthpeices. santy runyon was a genius when it came to desighning mouthpeices and he didnt like hard rubber as a material . his clarinet mpcs are much better than people give him credit for (at least for jazz playing)

Unless Mr. Runyon was also an accomplished performer on BASS and CONTRA clarinets, however, I wouldn't expect magical results from his company's mouthpieces for those instruments --- choice of material notwithstanding.

I have a Runyon BB Contra Bass Mouthpiece. It works pretty well, considering I'm only an occassional doubler on contra.
