 Mozart KV 498 (Kegelstaat)/Mutopia
Author: Bob Phillips

I heard this wonderful music on a CD; and when I went looking for the music, found it for FREE at

http://www.free-scores.com/frame-uk.php?url=http://www.mutopiaproject.org/&CATEGORIE=100&TITRE=Mutopia+Project

It is a trio in three movements for Clarinet in Bb, viola and piano. Evidently, Mozart wrote it when he was about 30 for his favorite clarinetist --while hanging around the Bowling Green.

I've been able to market it here in our little town and have started rehearsal with a terrific pianist and a violinist making the transition to viola.

In nervous anticipation of playing in a small group, I've been sitting by my CD player with the Sabine Meyer performance turned up real loud and playing along.

Its much more wonderful to be playing with real people.

There isn't much clarinet stuff (yet) on Mutopia Project, but this piece is really worth having in your collection. (I think so, anyhow)

Yup , ur rite, Bob and GBK. I have a few pages from "Mozart" by Wolfgang !! Hildescheimer, with some details [pg 179] re: its composition, for Franziska, piano, Stadler clar, and himself, viola, I can give you a bit more if you cant find this book. Sorry if the rosewood experience turned sour, Bob, I've had disappointments also. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

It's as wrongly named as fur (damned lack of umlaut) Elise of Beethoven, which should have been fur Therese (at least I think it was Therese). Mistakes happen and unfortunately they stick.

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

GBK - Mozart allegedly had some rather, er, risque past-times too. But certainly not suitable for general consumption.
