Announcing Local 802 Membership Drive
From April 1 through June 30, Local 802 and the AFM have waived initiation fees (usually $100) to join the union. That means new and returning members can join simply by beginning to pay annual dues, a savings of $100.
A drive like this is rare--take advantage of it to encourage your musician colleagues and friends to join (or re-join) 802. We are stronger together.
Why should every New York City musician join Local 802?
-- We're a leader in the fight to save live music.
-- We use our collective strength to advocate for funding for the arts and arts education, health care, affordable housing, and other issues that concern professional musicians.
-- We have union representatives and organizers who help musicians win better wages and obtain health insurance and pension benefits.
-- When organized and united, we have the power to negotiate with employers as equals. That solidarity helps us raise the standards for wages, benefits and respect for all musicians.
Musicians can join 802 during these three months by stopping by the membership department, located on the second floor of the 802 building (322 West 48th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues), between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or by calling 212.245.4802, x128.

David:
I think the answer is "yes." Local 802 has a very relaxed policy about joining, and an installment payment plan to make it easier to join.
Call Local 802 tomorrow at:
212-245-4802
Good luck,
