I'll be in L.A. from Sunday the 24th to Thursday the 28th of April. Anybody from the Southern Cal area know of any music related events that week worth looking into?

Man, you're a week off from my clarinet choir piece premiere!
If you're up for something on Sunday and are into the more experimental scene, you might look at so.cal.sonic: http://www.csulb.edu/~gbach/socalsonic.html
The L.A. Phil is playing in Disney Hall on Sunday and Thursday: http://www.laphil.org
Wow, I just looked this up. Richard Stoltzman will be playing John Adams' Gnarly Buttons and Steve Reich's New York Counterpoint with the Pacific Symphony on the 26th. Great stuff! http://www.pacificsymphony.org/concerts/detail.asp?anchor=ACF1 ... Gloria Cheng, a fantastic contemporary pianist (gave us a master class recently), is also on the concert. I might have to try to skip out on class and make that one
Also, you could check local universities (CSULB, CSUF, CSULA, UCLA, USC, UCI, etc.) for what their music departments are putting on.

Wow, I've never seen Stoltzman perform live before, and that may be an excellent concert considering the program. Thanks for the heads-up.

Among the many "things" available in the L A area, I'd suggest an hour or so at the Clermont Colleges' Fiske Museum's Musical Insts collection. Contact Al Rice for tour and, likely, demonstration of several unusual/historic clarinets, re: which he is highly expert and author of books and research on Baroque and Classical Period horns. Great, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
