He is a current Berlin Phil Principal Clarinet. I am his fan for a long time. I have many of DVDs of BPO concert and I see his playing a lot. I really enjoy his playing and this is something which makes me happy after the dissapointing audition results. Many of people here seem to love Leister, but I love Fuchs' playing. Does anyone feel some way with me, or any thoughts??
I am not sure if he is popular here in the US. I am from Japan.
Thanks.

I do enjoy his playing. I enjoy his orchestral recordings more than I do his soloist recordings however. I also enjoy the recordings of the other BPO solo clarinet, Karl Heinz Steffens.

Fuchs is playing the clarinets which Leister was playing in BPO. Leister chose these clarinets and BPO bought them. When Leister left BPO, he tried to buy them. BPO said NO and told him that there would be the person who would play these horns after Leister. This is Wenzel Fuchs.
Playing same instrument, but both clarinetists sound so different. Their musicianship are playing instruments.
