HeyI have been told two very different embouchures to try. One, the "ooh" embouchure which puts more cushion over the lower teeth (to get a daker sound?). The other is the "ee" embouchure where the lower lip is tightly strectched over the lower teeth. What I'm wanting to know is, what are the advantages/disadvantages to using these two embouchure types. Thanks in Advance!!!!

Try them both, and see which one sounds better for whatever piece you're playing. And try other variations too! Experiment, and have some fun! We can't tell you which is better without hearing you. It's all up to whatever sound you like the best and whichever allows you to get that sound easiest and most comfortably (meaning don't try to keep your tongue folded in half, unfurling only to tongue a note . . . even if it sounds better, it might be too much of a pain . . . )

If the lower lip is tightly stretched over the lower teeth, you will probably get a bright sound with that method.
Now there is also the upper lip which comes into play to help to open up the posterior pharyngial wall. The upper lip should press down on the mouthpiece and absorb some of the pressure.
That's the method I use - it works for me. You will find others who may do an opposite of it and get fine results so you have to go with what not only works for you, but what your teachers want you to try.

And there is also the factor of how chipped, misaligned, and jagged your lower teeth are!
