I have a friend who plays tenor sax and is starting to learn Bass Clarinet, He plays a Selmer C** mouthpiece on Tenor Sax, and was wondering what kind of Bass Cl. Mpc. would be similar. I suggested the Vandoren B44 or B45. Was this a good suggestion? He is ordering it tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

How about a selmer C* or C** for the bass ? (i prefer the C* personally).

I tried several Selmer C* mouthpieces for my bass, as well as a bunch of vandorens (B44, B45 etc.) but ended up with a Selmer C85 with a .115 opening. Your friend should TRY a handful of them out, if at all possible. The Vandorens were nothing special, and the C85 sounded so much better than the C*'s that it was an easychoice for me.
Really, though, your friend ought to play the mouthpieces, preferably over a couple of sessions. And on fresh reeds, too.

Okay, my friend ordered a Hite, a Vandorn, and a Selmer. He is going to try them out to find the one that he likes. Thanks for the help.

Hites are no longer being made. as I understand it, and this may be wrong, the Debut Forbes ( or something along that name) is making something similar now.
I think David Hite died. do I have the story right here?
