 Bay ligatures gold vs. silver

Has anyone found much difference between the tone, response, etc of the regular silver and gold Bay ligatures?

To me, the suface color used is just cosmetic. In fact, Charlie told me that the main secrete of his ligs performance was "in the lightweight metal used". That is why you should not over-tighten them as they will tend to crack along the engraved sections if over stressed. I know that from experiance. Like with any good lig, just snug it up enough to secure the reed--don't crank it until it puts ruts in your reed.
