Hello,
I have a picture of a basset horn in mind, but I can't remember (or find) where I've seen it.
It's an old basset horn (low c), which neither was curved, had a book nor a long lower joint.
Instead of the book there was a "loop" at the end of the lower joint, and at the end of this loop there was the bell mounted.
Also I remember, there was written, this type of basset extension is the only one instrument known.
Can anyone help me?
In which museum is this Instrument?
Is there a picture in the internet avaliable?
Any more informations on this instrument? (When buildt? Who many keys? Avaliable basset tones, e.g. no c#3, d3, eb3?)
Thanks in advance,
Arnold (the basset hornist)

Hi Arnold, long-time, no posts !. Rendall, plate 5 shows some "variants", the "Eisenmenger" rectangular is shown in "2500 winds", in Munich, I believe, will have to look at the pics I made. Will also look in Al Rice's " Cl-in-Class.-Period", he prob at least speaks of yours. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Yes, and thanks a lot,
it was the bass clarinet 'hb_cur3 at claribole.html' "cdb mayrhofer 1760" which I remembered when reading an article on the "clarinetti d'amore in low D" of the Mannheim Orchestra, especially when reading the historical quotation "looked like half a clarinet and half a hunting horn" and I ask myself "why hunting horn and not french horn?"!
Thanks again,
Arnold (the basset hornist)
