You are About to Play Carnegie Hall---What is Your Dream Instrument/Accessories?

Yes, your dream has come true. You are about to play Carngie Hall with the Symphony Orchestra of your choice. What is your "dream" clarinet/ ligature/reed etc?

Responding to the title of the thread rather than the content of the question:

A Stoltzman (sp?) / Wright / your-favorite recording, a small amplifier and a Forte that I can lip- & finger- sync.

Not limiting myself to clarinet:

I would play likely The Elgar or the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic. I would like to play this on a Strad of course.

Limited to clarinet:
I would play a Wurlitzer Reformed Boehm(recently built) clarinet with a Wurlitzer clarinet and White Master reeds, probably strength 2.5. For kicks, I would want to play the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic or the Kirov Orchestra.

Honestly, I would rather perform on cello like Brandon. How awesome would it be to perform the Bloch Schelomo or the Elgar, Dvorak or Schumann Concertos with the Berlin Phil. or the Orchestre National de France or something, and I'd like to do it by taking Ms. du Pré's cello away from Yo Yo Ma to use it myself.

I play on what I play - If I knew of anything that I liked better, I'd get it.

How about adding to the question - who would you want to play it for in a lesson first? (meaning any player in history if you could take a lesson on the piece other than the composer would you choose to have hear you?)

Not that I can actually answer that question right now, but it's a good thought anyway.

Hmmmm.

I'd want to play on Stanley Drucker's clarinet (the one with his name etched in it). His PERSONAL clarinet that he owns and operates. How I'd get my hands on it, I don't know, but this is after all a 'dream' situation.

I'd play on my current mouthpiece and lig (which are very good), and I'd like to give a shot at those old Morre reeds I keep hearing about. See if they're all they're cracked up to be.

Symphony Orchestra of my choice I'm not too sure about cause I haven't heard many of them, but from what I've heard, I'd be very happy to have Sir Neville Marriner conducting the New York Philharmonic as my support.

My dream came true!

I played at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops on Friday night.
Skitch Henderson conducted the first half with an all Leroy Anderson program, including the Piano Concerto which featured a nice clarinet solo in the slow movement.

The second half was conducted by Rob Fisher, of Garrison Keillor fame, and the successful "Encores" series here in NYC. He conducted many well know Broadway singers in selections from the great songs of Frank Loesser.

I played my Buffet R-13, my HITE "JJM" mouthpiece, and a new Backun Bell & Barrel for the first time, and I think it went pretty well!
When I wake up I'll let you know for sure.

Looking at it from JJM's view- I guess that dream did come true!

On my Leblanc Concerto IIs with my Hawkins DC1 and Mozart 3 1/2s. Also on a Leblanc Esprit Eb w/e a Clark Fobes mouthpiece for one piece. If I like my setup I suppose it's what I would most want to play on.....
The multiple solos in the Bartok Concerto for Orchestra really went well- I was "in the zone" and I played them better than I ever had before. All of the mental stuff (history etc.) associated with the hall really tricks you into doing your best! If only I could afford the outrageous cost Carnegie Hall charges to get a CD.

Mmm. A Selmer 37 modeled to my own specifications and the old mouthpiece/ligature/reed combo I used back in ninth and part of tenth grade. Actually, I wouldn't mind just having the same bass clarinet I used back in ninth and part of tenth grade. It may have been just a Bundy, but it had such a smooth, mellow, and even sound across all the registers I played. Although I might be looking at it with rose-colored glasses.

Right now, any professional clarinet, tweaked to feel new and play in tune. Either of my current mouthpieces (Hawkins or O'Brien), my old Rovner ligature and a good ole' balanced Vandoren V-12.

I would, right now, want to play the Tchaikovsky Finale from the Violin Concerto re-arranged to more accurately reflect the original violin part. I would be thrilled with any first rate orchestra.

I'd want one of the great (mature) violin players of this or the past century like Perlman or Stein, or a great conductor known for the passion he brings out of the orchestras he has conducted. Someone who will have the drive and love for the piece to push both the orchestra and myself to go farther than we thought we could.

Yes...that would be a dream.

My dream mouthpiece, ligature and reed are the ones I use right now. Never found something better than my Eaton mouthpiece, and Vandoren ligature and reeds.
I wouldn't want to play with an orchestra though. I would prefer to play with my group and play only original or improvised music.

Clarinet dream -- playing the second movement solo from Beethoven 6 on my trusty R-13 with the Cleveland Orchestra from the Szell glory days (Bob called in sick and said George needed me). Either my Greg Smith Kaspar or my Vandoren M30, whichever I'm hummin' on that night.

Ultimate dream -- playing Beethoven's Emperor piano concerto on the best Steinway grand the company has in their vaunted basement. Lenny and the Phil are backin' me up in with the most schamaltzy orchestral accompaniment imaginable. I'm makin' 'em take notice in the first movement, makin' 'em weep in the second, and makin' 'em tap their toes in the finale. (Have I mentioned that in my ultimate dream, I can play piano

It's been said by others, but I'd stick with my current setup:

Buffet R13 with Lomax A4 mouthpiece and Vandoren blue box 3s.

sfalexi...I've played on Andrew Marriner's clarinet, and am mortified to say I still sounded like me...not him.

I would imagine Mr Drucker's instrument would be the same for you!

So, Mr. Moses, how do you like the Backun bell and barrel? Do they add weight to the instrument? Physical weight, that is. And, congratulation on your gig. What a delight!

Truth be told, I'd love to play guitar with the Rolling Stones also. They haven't returned my calls though.....

Hi Brenda Siewert:
The Backun bell & barrel worked well are Carnegie on Friday night. Everyone at WICKED on Saturday liked the "new" sound, so Broadway seems pleased. And today, on "Good Morning America," Jon Manasse and I both tried our Backun stuff on National TV. Word is not in on how we sounded, I hope it came through on TV as good as it sounded in the studio. We were backing Bocelli in his moving tribute to the Pope.
I need a little more time, in a few more venues, to really make a decision about my Backun stuff. So far so good.

Mr. Moses- I hear the conductor of Wicked went to my school for HS (New World School of the Arts). If this is true, that's pretty cool.
