Hello all,
Has anyone here ever taken a DePlus Class in Paris? I would love to, but I don't think I'm exactly eligible. Hmm.... Let's see... A clarinetist who specializes in Bb soprano and harmony clarinets (esp. Eb Alto/Bb Bass), but nothing lower; speaks Chinese, English, and a hint of Italian. No french! I guess I could learn... But that would be too much of a hassle just for some clarinet lessons... Or would it be? That's what I'm wondering.
...
Also, I was wondering if anybody knew the song played in Vandoren's extract of DePlus' Master Class (http://www.vandoren.fr/en/video/deplusmasterclass.wmv)... I am feeling a bit stupid, since it sounds very familiar (maybe I've played it?), though I can't exactly remember it.

Sorry - No song on that excerpt.
Song: (sông, 'so[ng]) - a short musical composition with words.
The work being played is Mozart K.622, 1st movement...GBK

Good link - hadn't seen that one before. They have a Marcel Mule interview also on the site.

I studied in France with Desplus for 6 months and with Robert Fontaine.
Desplus is an excellent teacher and had alot to do with shaping the new music scene in France.

I got a poster of Deplus from Vandoren and had it framed - hangs in my studio.
I consider him one of the last of the "living grand masters"
