 Barber for Clarinet and "Neo-Romanticism"
Author: wjk

Has Samuel Barber written any pieces for clarinet-?--I've seen previous threads that refer to clarinet choir arrangements for the Adagio for Strings. I do have a Barber CD that Stanley Drucker plays on----what do others think of Barber? Does the "neo-romantic" label mean anything?

If you can find a top notch group to play woodwind quintet music, the Barber Summer Music is an absolute gem. Ya better have good chops all the way around though.

"Neo-Romantic"? Um...I'd say yes. Take deep Romantic musical ideas like Brahms and Wagner and then add a pinch of 20th century flare for spice.
