Great article. And I agree. I hate waiting rooms that have nothing I'd be interested in and it makes me dislike going to the doctor that much more. Likewise, it's frustrating if the waiting room DOES have something interesting in it, but when I go to strike up a conversation about it with the doctor, they end up admitting that they only put it in there for their patients and aren't interested themselves.
I'm glad to see that WJK is leading by example here.

I too have a waiting room festooned with Readers Digest, Nat Graph, Vogue etc, but recently I've put in some of my Digital Photography, CLarinet and Saxophone Society Mags and Classic fm magazines. This way I can put them through the practice expenses and get the info out of them myself.
Like wjk, I find that the seemingly narrower appeal of these magazines paradoxically attracts the most comments and this opens lines of communication previously untapped !
The only problem is that some of my treasured CASS mags grow legs and I lose some great articles. Hey Ho !

I applaud the creativity, but.... since doctors' waiting rooms are for sick people who may be carrying contagious bacteria and viruses, isn't there a good chance of passing on communicable diseases via the magazines and especially the inevitable toy corner?

I'm sure no one will get some odd disease from this magazine-borrowing and what-not. I think it is a fabulous idea as well. I often wait in the waiting room for prolonged periods of time and hate what they provide as reading material and often find myself annoyed because I forgot to bring something worth reading.
this post also made me aware of a clarinet magazine! I knew something of the sort existed, now I have a name!
