Hi,
Well like I said I got into the Youth Orchestra. And the conductor wants me to go for private lessons *which I would LOVE to have*... Most of the other people *there are only like 18...very small...but boy do we sound GOOD* take private lessons except for Sarah, Shontae, and me. Does anyone know of any more reasonable teaches in the Savannah, GA area besides...ummm...he told me some lady who plays for the Savannah Chamber Orchestra that's really good. We're kinda tight on money but I am scouting around for a job *got some offers...but the 'rents wouldn't let me take them for some reason* so money isn't really a factor unless it's really exorbitant (sp?).

The Freshman,
Nicole Y.

Nicole:

Please tell me what the problem with your parents is--I had a similar situation about 5 years ago. Please send me an email privately, and I'll see if I can help you.

Here is a suggestion, try checking out the various community music schools and see if they have scholarship programs.

I know of several students who have won full or partial scholarships for lessons - and they don't have to be monetarily based. Many are based on achievement.

When I was in high school (many years ago) I did not have money for lessons, but our assistant band director was a fine clarinetist and taught private lessons. I workd in the music library and in the band hall as payment for lessons. That was a great gesture on his part and it was mutually beneficial to both of us. See if there are band directors who are clarinetists in the area who would be willing to allow some kind of an arrangement like this. It's worth a shot. Too bad you don't live nearby here in Texas, I can use some library help. :-) Good Luck!
