Please help me find information about how and why mouthpieces work.
I am interested in understanding the science and applications concerning the variables involved in the bore, baffle chamber, facing curve and tip opening.
Efforts in my local library, with local teachers, and one individual on the web have not produced any help.
Thanks in advance

Dan,
Thanks for your help.
This is an excellent site from the U. of New South Wales, Australia. Most of the information is about musical acoustics. Much on clarinet. Very helpful in a general informational way.
Still looking for more detailed info on mouthpieces.

You may also want to check out the Mouthpiecework group on Yahoo. Great info about refacing and repairing pieces, though mostly about saxophone stuff.

Tom Ridenour has some good articles about the subject:

The above suggestions pretty much cover the subject as far as what is published about it. You will probably eventually discover that maybe all the science has not yet been developed or published. The Yahoo site mentioned is quite good.....even though it's primarily sax mp directed. What some in the business do borders on magic.
