We are starting to get warmed up to do "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" this spring. I checked the Music Theatre Intl web site and they show the orchestration as Percussion and Reeds, no trumpet or trombone.

I have no reason to doubt this, but it just looks sort of strange. Is that the way it really is?

Thanks, Jim

you'd think a musical farce that takes place in ancient rome would have some sort of brass fanfare somewhere

it must be. not all musical pits have brass written into them. it is all at the whim of the composer.
