While doing some web searching for information on crystal mpcs, I came across the following web handbook of informative comments by Roger W. McKinney, Professor of Clarinet & Music History at The College of New Jersey.

In what Prof. McKinney describes as a handbook of basic elements and characteristics concerning the clarinet, the topics that he covers are the following: Short history of the clarinet, The modern clarinet, Mouthpiece, Mouthpiece refacing, The reed, Equisetum hyemale, Embouchure, Breathing, Finger tension, Tone shaping, Tonguing, Finger technique, Intonation, Playing the high register, Style-phrasing & interpretation, Clarinetists, and Fingering chart.

Unfortunately, some of the topics are still under construction, but, all in all, I found it to be interesting reading. I liked the large picture showing what he believed to be correct embouchure. It was also interesting to see pictures of Daniel Bonade and other clarinetists.
I found his "handbook" to be very informative and just wanted to pass it along to whomever might be interested.

Interesting link.
IMHO, in his sections on mouthpieces, as a professor at an institution of higher learning McKinney should have at least mentioned, if not fully credited, the real author of that material -- Santy Runyon c. 1960.

An interesting "handbook", but for whom? As I view it, its nigh on to impossible to cover, in a few paragraphs, what Brymer, Rendall, Pino, Lawson, Stubbins etc,etc, take many chapters to discuss comprehensively,with few if any obvious errors. The plunging into Full Boehm, operatic !! transposition etc , coupled with factual errors [hard rubber mps are NOT acrylic] would cause me to instruct a student to avoid reading this. Perhaps I'm being overly "picky", if so, my apologies, but I believe tis should be said. GBK, MC, please delete if "improper" , Don
